Woman of The Year

Local BPW chapters present the Woman of the Year award. This event typically occurs in October during Business Women’s Week.

Chapters may honor one or more women. Each nominee must work full-time. Additionally, she must actively contribute to her community. Examples include mayors, business owners, or activists. The Local BPW selects the final winner.

Renton BPW’s Women of the Year

The Renton Business and Professional Women’s Organization selected their Woman of the Year at their October meeting. Five impressive leaders earned nominations.

The nominees included:

  • Minyhu Tafesse: Owner of Abyssinia Beauty Clinic
  • Ester Alley: Owner of Ester Jones Alley Coaching
  • Lisa Fischer: Owner of Lisa Fisher Styling, LLC
  • Cici Sawyer: Owner of Towelocs and Wholesale Real Estate

Vicki Baxter, Linda Foley, and Rich Sweeney served as the selection committee. Every nominee deserves recognition for her achievements.

Angel Gonzales earned the title of Renton Woman of the Year. An Air Force Staff Sergeant Veteran, Angel now works for the Washington Department of Veteran Affairs.

She mentors Veterans and their family members. Notably, she established the first VetCorps position at City University. Angel holds many awards for supporting our veterans. Her two sons currently serve in the Middle East.
